Philip Roman (born December 21, 1930 in Fresno, California), is an animator. He is the founder of the Film Roman animation studio.
Early in his career, Roman was as an animator for Chuck Jones's independent studios, Sib Tower 12 Productions and later Chuck Jones Productions. He was a lead animator for 1966's How The Grinch Stole Christmas, and also provided an audio commentary along with June Foray on the DVD release of the film. He is producer of the long running animated series The Simpsons and a pre-series trailer for Soap On The Range. He also worked as director for a few Peanuts specials.
He is regarded as one of the most influential Producers in animation television history.
His first job as an animator was working directly under Walt Disney on "Sleeping Beauty"
In the 80s he Founded, and was CEO of the Production Company Film Roman, which was responsible for producing legendary shows such as "Garfield and Friends", "The Simpsons" and "King of the Hill".
