One Love is a non-album single by The Stone Roses. The single was released in the UK, U.S., Australia, Germany, Japan, Spain, and France, peaking at #4 in the Roses' home country of the UK, their highest charting single up until that time. "One Love" is also available on the 1992 compilation Turns Into Stone, and the 2002 release The Very Best of The Stone Roses.
The song has a decidedly mixed reputation among Roses fans, with some denouncing it for borrowing too much from the success of Fools Gold. Nevertheless, the song contains vivid biblical references prevalent throughout their catalogue.
The original artwork for the single was said to have formed a swastika. John Squire ripped it up and used the torn pieces for the cover. The band set fire to the ripped up artwork in the video for One Love.
The One Love Peace Concert was a large concert held on April 22, 1978 at The National Stadium in Kingston, Jamaica.
This concert was held during a political civil war in Jamaica between opposing parties Jamaican Labour Party and the People's National Party. The concert came to its peak during Bob Marley & The Wailers' performance of "Jammin'", when Marley joined the hands of political rivals Michael Manley (PNP) and Edward Seaga (JLP).
Bob Marley said the following as he called the two politicians onstage, and while he held their hands above his head and said while improvising on "Jammin'":
"One Love" is a single by Blue released in 2002. This song was used in an African television advertisement for Trust condoms.
"One Love" was the seventh single released by the British electronic act The Prodigy in October 1993. It was the first single from the album Music For the Jilted Generation.
Liam Howlett first released the songs "One Love" and "One Love" (Jonny L Remix) as two 12" white labels, called "Earthbound 1" and "Earthbound 2" respectively, in response to growing criticism from the music community about The Prodigy having sold themselves out and become purely commercial. Underground DJs apparently praised the white labels as some of the best of the year, but when it was revealed that Howlett had produced the songs, the DJs shunned the songs. With this act, Howlett had shown that The Prodigy was still capable of making pioneering dance music praised by the underground. This song in particular features rather innovative programming and loop-work in combination with sped-up tribal chants and orchestral strings.
Another reason for the singles huge success was strongly due to the B-Side "Rhythm Of Life" which a lot of fans consider to be one of The Prodigy's best songs ever. "One Love" was also the first Prodigy single since "What Evil Lurks" not to receive a US release.
The music video was created by Hyperbolic Systems and featured computer generated graphics with occasional images of the band members dancing along tribal figures.
"One Love" is Nas' fifth and final single released from his debut album, Illmatic. In the song, Nas translates the contents of a letter addressed to his incarcerated friends. The song contains an acknowledgment to childhood friend Cormega in the lines "What up wit' Cormega?/ Did you see him?/ were y'all together?" Although Cormega would briefly join Nas in the hip-hop group The Firm, the pair's friendship would quickly disintegrate into an on-again, off-again rivalry. Before the rivalry, Cormega recorded a song named "One Love" as a letter back to Nas. It can be found on Cormega's album The Testament.
The song is produced by Q-Tip and featured a sample of the Heath Brothers' "Smilin' Billy Suite". Its chorus is sung by Q-Tip.
The song was sampled later by hip hop/pop group The Black Eyed Peas in their song Where Is The Love.
"One Love/People Get Ready" is a song by Bob Marley & The Wailers from their 1977 album Exodus and it has also been released on many of his compilation albums. It has become one of the most influential and known reggae songs ever. The song expressed Marley's beliefs of global unity. The song contains an interpolation of The Impressions' song "People Get Ready" written by Curtis Mayfield. The title of the song on albums is "One Love / People Get Ready".
A posthumous music video was created for the song in 1984 to accompany the Bob Marley "Legend" compilation album. It combines footage of a young Jamaican boy in London and archival footage of Marley. It also features several cameo appearances including one by Paul McCartney. The song was also released alongside the video and gave Marley a posthumous UK hit single when it reached number 5 in June.
The song has been used in television commercials promoting Jamaican tourism. In 2007, Stephen Marley and Richard Branson re-recorded the song in Jamaica to promote Branson's Virgin Airways flights to Jamaica.
One Love is also the title of a romantic reggae movie from 2003, starring one of Marley's sons.
One Love is the first single from Aiden's third album, Conviction. As a single it was released in early September of 2007. The song was first played on the Lostprophets and Taking Back Sunday tour in early April and went on to be played at Wembley Arena on the final night of the Lostprophets and Taking Back Sunday tour. The Song has also been played at the Download Festival leaving fans with speculation about it becoming the first single before it was announced.
Aiden updated their myspace and added "One Love" shortly followed by "Teenage Queen" . The song then became available on iTunes. There is also a video promo posted on the Victory records Youtube account.
The full video can be seen on AOL music .
A remix of the song was made in collaboration with The Legion of Doom for the movie Resident Evil: Extinction.
