No. 4 was the fourth CD released by Stone Temple Pilots, on October 26 1999, by Atlantic Records. The album combined elements of heavy metal, psychedelic rock, and alternative rock. The album did not sell as well as the group's previous releases (although it still achieved platinum status), largely because Stone Temple Pilots was unable to promote the album while singer Scott Weiland was in rehab. The song "Down" was nominated for Best Hard Rock Performance at the Grammy Awards. "Atlanta", the last track on the album, features deeper vocals from Weiland, possibly in homage to Jim Morrison of The Doors.
