Nestor Carbonell (born December 1, 1967) is an Cuban-American actor best known for his role as Luis Rivera on the sitcom Suddenly Susan.
Carbonell was born in New York City and attended Harvard University in the late 1980's. His father is active in the Cuban-American community and has held senior positions at Pepsi.
Carbonell had recurring roles on Resurrection Blvd., The Tick, Strong Medicine, Kim Possible (as the voice of SeƱor Senior, Jr.), and Cold Case. He also guest-starred on Scrubs ("My Moment of Un-Truth"), House, Day Break and Monk . He went on to play Richard Alpert for several episodes in the third season of Lost, and was offered a role as a series regular for Season 4, but he declined and took up the show Cane.
In 2006 he appeared as assassin Pasquale Acosta in the film Smokin' Aces. In 2007, he signed on to play the mayor of Gotham City in Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight, the sequel to the 2005 film Batman Begins. In a recent interview, Lost showrunner Carlton Cuse implied that Carbonell may soon be reprising his role as Richard Alpert towards the end of the show's 4th season.
Nestor and his wife, Shannon Kenny (I), met while both were working in the movie Attention Shoppers (2000).
