Marisa Carolina Ramirez (born September 15, 1977 in Los Angeles, California) is an American actress. She attended all-girls' school in Alhambra, California at the Ramona Convent Secondary School. Her career began at age 13 when she was brought to the attention of a major L.A. modelling agency and begun acting in commercials.
Marisa Ramirez plays "Gia" on ABC's "General Hospital" (1963). "Gia" arrived in 'Port Charles' in the summer of 2000 and has since developed into a very interesting character with an impressive following. Her career started in 1991, when a Polaroid picture of the then 13-year-old girl made its way into the hands of a Los Angeles modeling agency. By the age of 15, Marisa began to work as a print model and as a commercial actress. It wasn't long before demand became global, offering her opportunities to work in Singapore, Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong and Italy. Despite her success in modeling, it was acting classes that helped Marisa overcome her life-long shyness. She started working, almost immediately, with guest roles on Days of Our Lives, USA High, Roswell and The Bold and the Beautiful. Just before joining "GH", she co-hosted MTV's Senseless Acts of Video. Marisa attended an all-girl private school in East Los Angeles.
