Kevin Michael Richardson (born October 25 1964) is an American voice actor and actor, one of the most prominent voice actors in the field. He starred in the short lived The Knights of Prosperity, an ABC comedy. He is also currently voicing iconic Batman villain The Joker in the new animated series The Batman.
He is best known for his deep voice and portraying either villains or fat, good-natured African-American men. His credits include Captain Gantu from Lilo & Stitch, Goro in Mortal Kombat, Sarevok in the Baldur's Gate series, Jolee Bindo in Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Crunch Bandicoot in two of the Crash Bandicoot games, The Joker from The Batman, Tartarus from Halo 2, Openly Gator from Queer Duck, and Barney Rubble from modern-day animated series and movies based upon The Flintstones.
A classically-trained actor, Richardson first gained recognition as one of only eight U.S. high school students selected for the National Foundation for the Arts' "Arts '82" program. As a result of this he earned a scholarship to Syracuse University and a spot on a PBS special directed by the esteemed late John Houseman.
Richardson was married this past May. Currently he and his wife, Monica, live in Los Angeles with her two sons from a previous marriage, Anthony and Michael. A New York State native, Richardson is excited to return to work in Manhattan.
Before he was hired to do voice work in Animatrix, The (2003) (V) and Matrix Revolutions, The (2003), he provided the voice of Morpheus in a "Matrix"-inspired spoof for the short-lived "Clerks" (2000).
