Anthony Joseph Perry (Born September 10, 1950 in Lawrence, Massachusetts), better known as Joe Perry, is the lead guitarist and contributing songwriter for the rock band Aerosmith.

The two players immediately below him, _Anthony Hamilton and Allister Carter lost their 1st round matches, however unlike Perry they had won a match to qualify, earning them more ranking points and allowing them to leapfrog Joe.

His best career performance so far was when he reached the final of the European Open in 2001. He reached the semi-final of the _UK Championship the next two seasons, losing the 2004 match after leaving opponent David Gray requiring snookers to remain in it. This run left him provisionally 5th in the world, but he failed to win a match in the remaining five tournaments and dropped to 14th at the end of the season as a result. In 2005 he lost in the semi-final to eventual champion Ding Junhui. In the 2007/08 season, Perry reached the quarter-finals of the Grand Prix, losing 5-3 to Gerard Greene, as well as the last 16 of the UK Championship where he beat Neil Robertson 9-6 after being 5-3 down, before losing 9-2 to Marco Fu. He also reached the quarter-finals of the Welsh Open, with victories over John Parrott 5-2, Peter Ebdon 5-1 and Stuart Bingham 5-2 before Shaun Murphy beat him 5-0.

After military service in World War II, Perry attended Compton Junior College where he teamed with future Pro Football Hall of Fame member Hugh McElhenny. Together they won back-to-back national championships in 1946-47. Perry then went directly into pro football joining the 49ers' in 1948. Nicknamed "The Jet," Perry was not known for being a powerful fullback, or particularly elusive; he simply had fantastic speed.

The first NFL runner ever to have consecutive 1,000 yard rushing seasons (1953-1954), Perry's durability allowed him to play in three separate decades, from the 1940s to the 1960s, for 16 seasons. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1969.

In addition to his football career, Perry also hosted a popular sports and music radio program, "Both Sides Of The Record," sponsored by Burgermeister Beer, on R&B-formatted KWBR (1310 AM; later known as KDIA) beginning in 1954. The program was arranged by Franklin Mieuli, a sports entrepreneur who worked in marketing for Burgie, in addition to being a part-owner of the 49ers and producer of the team's radio and television broadcasts.
