Jill Talley (born December 19, 1962, age 45, in Chicago, Illinois) is a comedic actress, most well-known as a major cast member of Mr. Show during its four seasons on HBO. She is the wife of voice actor Tom Kenny, who also appeared regularly in the series. Previously, they were both cast members of the short-lived FOX Network sketch comedy show The Edge from 1992 to 1993. They also appeared together in the 1996 Smashing Pumpkins video "Tonight, Tonight" as the married couple who take a honeymoon on the moon.
Talley's vocal work includes playing Karen, computer wife of Plankton on SpongeBob SquarePants, as well as Gretchen, the tomboyish alligator Squirrel Scout, the scholarly giraffe named Nina, and the largely angry warthog named Ms. Mucus on Camp Lazlo. She also voices Sarah Du Bois on the Adult Swim show, The Boondocks. Also, she voiced Lindsey Gunt on Nickelodeon's Herdy & Gerdy. Since Mr. Show's run she has also appeared in minor roles in several films such as Little Miss Sunshine and Sky High, the latter of which she appeared with her husband. Talley has also been known to voice Numbuh 318 on Codename: Kids Next Door. Her voice was featured in the videogame Metal Gear Solid: Portable Ops.
Talley's father was a firefighter and she lived in Chicago near Chicago Midway International Airport during her childhood. In her twenties, she performed improv comedy in Chicago at the Improv Institute and The Second City. She currently resides in Studio City with her husband and their two children, Mac and Nora.
Jill Talley started her career in acting at the famed Second City Main Stage in Chicago. Where she worked along side Chris Farley, Tim Meadows, Steve Carrell, Amy Sedaris, and others. She was a regular cast member of HBO's critically acclaimed, and cult classic sketch show, Mr. Show with Bob and David. Prior to that, she was a regular on FOX TV's The Edge opposite Jennifer Aniston. She has been seen as the anchor in Not Necessarily the Elections (HBO) and has guest-starred on The Sarah Silverman Program (Comedy Central), The Bernie Mac Show, Drew Carey, Seinfeld, Frasier, Ellen, 3rd Rock From the Sun and more. On film, Jill starred as "Tammy" in New Line Cinema's Run Ronnie Run, as "Candy" in Paramount's The Ladies Man, along with various roles in Little Miss Sunshine, Sky High, Sour Grapes, Jack Frost, Dumb and Dumberer and the award-winning Comic Book the Movie. She was the lead along with her husband, Tom Kenny, in two music videos; Smashing Pumpkins, Tonight Tonight (MTV Best Video of 1995) and the Travis video for Sing. Both directed by Jonathan Dayon and Valerie Faris As a voice-over actress, Jill has voiced hundreds of characters including Ramona in American Dad, Karen in Nickelodeon's Sponge Bob Squarepants, Gretchen, Nina and Miss Mucus on Camp Lazlo, Gisell in Pam Anderson's Striperella, Mrs. Sidvarsky in Clifford Puppy Years, Sarah in Boondocks (Adult Swim) the Mother in The Animatrix.
