Gerald Norman "Jerry" Springer (born February 13, 1944) is a British-born American celebrity; a former Democratic mayor of Cincinnati, Ohio; musician; television personality; and host of the controversial television tabloid talk show bearing his name, The Jerry Springer Show, since its debut in 1991. He is also the current host of America's Got Talent.

On July 15, 2007, it was announced that Springer was picked up by NBC-Universal through the 2009-2010 season.

Among his peers' other talk-shows, Jerry's is of the more passionate and of the more sensational. His topics range from bisexual affairs to rape. Won 10 local Emmys for his nightly news and political commentaries during his stint at Cincinnati's WLWT-TV.

(10 July 2002) The sons of guest Nancy Campbell-Panitz, who was murdered by her ex-husband after the couple appeared on a "Springer" episode with his girlfriend, filed suit in Sarasota County (FL) Court against Springer, his producers and his distributor, USA Studios, claiming Springer created "a mood that led to murder."
