J Troplong "Jay" Ward (September 20, 1920 – October 12, 1989) was an American creator and producer of animated television cartoons. He is known for producing animated series based on characters such as Crusader Rabbit, Rocky & Bullwinkle, Dudley Do-Right, Peabody and Sherman, Hoppity Hooper, George of the Jungle, Tom Slick and Super Chicken. His company, Jay Ward Productions, also designed the trademark characters for Cap'n Crunch, Quisp and Quake breakfast cereals and made commercials for those products, among others.
Jay Ward was married to Ramona "Billie" Ward. He had three children: Ron, Carey, and Tiffany.
(1941) B.A. from U.C. Berkeley and (1947) M.B.A. from Harvard U., the latter during which he served 2 years in the Army Air Corps.

Rocky the Flying Squirrel, Bullwinkle Moose, and Dudley Do-Right of the Mounties were in fact conceived, designed, and created by Jay Ward's boyhood friend and sometimes business partner, advertising artist Alex Anderson.
Designed the breakfast cereal mascot "Cap'n Crunch", reportedly modeled after himself.
Drove a sound-truck across the USA to gather signatures for a Statehood for Moosylvania campaign, and then tried to storm the White House with them, right at the height of the Cuban Missile Crisis.
