Hells Angels (Wikipedia.org)

The Hells Angels Motorcycle Club (HAMC) is a world-wide motorcycle club whose members traditionally ride Harley-Davidson motorcycles. In the United States, and Canada, the Hells Angels are incorporated as the Hells Angels Motorcycle Corporation. Some members nickname themselves "one-percenters" in response to the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) claim that 99% of motorcyclists were law abiding citizens, and the last one percent were outlaws.

Both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Criminal Intelligence Service Canada classify the Angels as one of the "big four" outlaw motorcycle gangs, contending that members carry out widespread violence, drug dealing, trafficking in stolen goods, and extortion. The Hells Angels assert that this is a mischaracterization, and claim that they are a group of motorcycle enthusiasts who organize social events such as undertaking trips as a group, parties and motorcycle rallies.

Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim (Wikipedia.org)

The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim are a professional baseball team based in Anaheim, California. The Angels are a member of the Western Division of Major League Baseball's American League. The "Angels" name originates from the city that was their original home, Los Angeles. They are informally known by many fans as "the Halos". The Angels have been based in Angel Stadium of Anaheim since 1966.

An expansion franchise, the club was founded in Los Angeles in . Then the Los Angeles Angels, the team was based at Los Angeles's Wrigley Field (not to be confused with Chicago's legendary stadium of the same name). The team has gone through several name changes in their history, first changing to the California Angels in to emphasize their status as the only AL team in California. When the Disney Company took control in 1997, they extensively renovated Angel Stadium on the condition that both the stadium's name and the team's name contain the word "Anaheim". Disney was hoping to make Anaheim, the home of Disneyland, a major tourist destination and thus the team became the Anaheim Angels.

In , new owner Arte Moreno wanted to change its name back to the original "Los Angeles" in order to better tap into the Los Angeles media market, the second largest in the country. However, the standing agreement with the city of Anaheim demanded that they have "Anaheim" in the name, so they became the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. This name change was hotly disputed by the city of Anaheim and the Los Angeles Dodgers, who wanted sole possession of the title "Los Angeles," but the change stood and still stands today.

The Angels are the incumbent American League West Champions.

Dave Angel (Wikipedia.org)

Dave Angel, (born David Angelico Nicholas Gooden in Chelsea, London), is an English techno musician.

Angel is the son of a London-based jazz musician, and the older brother of rapper Monie Love. He had an unorthodox musical education; his father influenced him deeply, as did his friends and his environment, including the radio. He listened not only to Miles Davis and Charlie Parker, but also to soul music and funk. Even though he was playing instruments at fourteen, including percussion, his musical development wasn't easy or straightforward.

His musical career started when he borrowed an old electronic keyboard from a friend and, using a double tape deck, assembled a bassline and drum track, over which he laid "Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)" by Eurythmics. He called the result his Nightmare mix, and borrowed money from a friend in order to press 500 copies. When BMG, and thus the Eurythmics, learnt of this, Annie Lennox wanted to prevent the sale of what was in effect the pirating of their song; however, her partner Dave Stewart liked the mix, and persuaded her to allow Angel to go ahead. The track – involving elements of jazz, Detroit techno, and breakbeat hardcore – was successful, reaching number twenty-three in the United Kingdom charts.

Not long afterwards, Angel received many invitations, and gained much respect from European artists, becoming part of the Phaze One team together with the drum & bass DJs Fabio and Grooverider (who used to play styles from house to hardcore at that time). The doors were also opened for his career as a producer. Despite the quality of his productions, however, such as the EPs "The Family" by Apollo and "Royal Techno" by Rotation Records, he was unable to make much impression in England.

Through his label, Rotation Records, he gave opportunities to many of the current producers, including many of other nationalities, such as Paul Hazel, Cisco Ferreira, Vince Watson, Samuel L. Session, Steve Rachmad, and Sharpside. He released tracks for labels such as Black Market, Love, Rotation, and specially the Belgian R & S Records.

The second half of the 1990s brought Angel closer to funk than jazz when he released tracks from the LP Globetrotting, such as "Tokyo Stealth Fighter", "This is Disco", and "Funk Music". Over the years that followed, he gained a central position on the international scene, making appearances at the biggest events and festivals; he plays all over the world, and has became an important figure in international techno.

Angel (Sarah McLachlan song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Angel" is a song by Sarah McLachlan that originally appeared on her 1997 album Surfacing. As McLachlan explained on VH1 Storytellers, the song is about the Smashing Pumpkins touring keyboard player Jonathan Melvoin, who overdosed on heroin and died in 1996. McLachlan explained that there's nothing constant when you are on the road; everything becomes the same.

Released as a single in 1999, "Angel" peaked at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and has had enduring popularity. It is often used to highlight emotional scenes on television shows and has featured in a number of soundtracks (including the film City of Angels and TV's Alias, Dawson's Creek, Cold Case and General Hospital) and as a song of comfort and healing following the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center terrorist attacks.

The song has a spare arrangement -- mostly McLachlan at the piano, with subtle upright bass played by Jim Creeggan of Barenaked Ladies.

A remix of the track by Dusted appears on the 2001 album by McLachlan, Remixed.

On July 2, 2005, Sarah performed this song at Live 8 in Philadelphia with Josh Groban.

Angel (Shaggy song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Angel" is a 2000 number one hit song by reggae artist Shaggy featuring Rayvon. It was the follow-up to Shaggy's U.S. number-one hit "It Wasn't Me". Angel reached number one in the U.S. for the week of 31 March 2001.

The song uses the bassline from "The Joker" by Steve Miller (1973), and also borrows from "Angel of the Morning," written by Chip Taylor and best known by the singer Merrilee Rush (1968).

The single also reached number one in the UK Singles Chart, as well as number one in Australia, making the song a transatlantic chart topper. The success following the release, saw Shaggy clock up his third U.S. and fourth UK number one hit single. It was also a European success, at one point simultaneously topping the charts in the German-speaking territories of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The music video was directed by Cameron Casey.

Angel (Pharrell Williams song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Angel" is the second European single from Pharrell's debut album, In My Mind (2006). It debuted on November 29, 2005 in the UK and was backed heavily by BBC Radio 1 where at one point it was their most played record. It was also made Record of the Week by UK DJ Scott Mills.

The single was originally due for release on December 5, 2005, but because the album In My Mind was pushed back, the single was released on January 21 2006. The single became Pharrell's third top 20 hit in the UK, peaking at #15 there, his lowest chart peak to date. It also only stayed in the UK top 75 single chart for 4 weeks.

The single was not released in the U.S. or Australia due to the underperformance of "Can I Have It Like That" in both countries. http://music.monstersandcritics.com/news/article_1179668.php

In the United Kingdom, the song charted as a double A-side with "What's Made Milwaukee Famous (Has Made a Loser Out of Me)."

Some of this song's lyrics were recited at Hendrix's funeral.

Angel (Two Tricky song) (Wikipedia.org)

Angel was the Icelandic entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2001, performed in English by Two Tricky.

The song is an up-tempo rock song, with the singer calling on the object of his affections to come to him and "fly me away". It appears from the lyrics that the pair had previously been together, in a relationship which did not end well.

The song was performed second on the night (following the Netherlands' Michelle with Out On My Own and preceding Bosnia and Herzegovina's Nino Pršeš with Hano). At the close of voting, it had received 3 points, placing 22nd (equal last) in a field of 23.

Due to the rapidly expanding Contest, the decision was taken to restrict entry to the 2002 Contest to those countries with the best average scores over the previous 5 years, a group which did not include Iceland. As a "passive country" (one which broadcast the Contest without entering it), Iceland was permitted to return to the fold in the following year. Thus, the song was succeeded as Icelandic representative at the 2003 Contest by Birgitta with Open Your Heart.

Angel (Aerosmith song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Angel" is a song performed by American hard rock band Aerosmith. It was written by lead singer Steven Tyler and professional songwriting collaborator Desmond Child. It was released in 1988 as the second single from the band's massively successful 1987 album Permanent Vacation. It quickly climbed to #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, the second highest chart performance for any Aerosmith single.

Angel (Chiara song) (Wikipedia.org)

Angel was the Maltese entry in the Eurovision Song Contest 2005, performed in English by Chiara.

In contrast to the up-tempo styles dominating the Contest, the song is a solo love ballad. Chiara sings to her lover that, no matter what, she will be "your angel". The chorus culminates with the line "I'm always here for you". In keeping with the lyrical simplicity of the song, Chiara performed solo onstage with a simple musical score backing her.

As Malta had finished the 2004 Contest in the top 12, the song was pre-qualified for the final. Here, it was performed third (following the United Kingdom's Javine with Touch My Fire and preceding Romania's Luminiţa Anghel & Sistem with Let Me Try). At the close of voting, it had received 192 points placing 2nd in a field of 24 and pre-qualifying Malta for the final at the next Contest. The result was also Malta's best in Contest history, equalling Ira Losco's second place with 7th Wonder but exceeding that song's score of 164 points (and indeed Chiara's own score of 165 with The One That I Love).

The song appeared as a "favourite" on the CD and DVD sets produced to commemorate the Congratulations special in late 2005.

It was succeeded as Maltese representative at the 2006 Contest by Fabrizio Faniello with I Do.

Angel (Fleetwood Mac song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Angel" is a song written and performed by Stevie Nicks on the Fleetwood Mac album Tusk. Nicks attributed the song to the story of Rhiannon in the Mabinogion and in particular Arawn, who is the great lord of darkness.

"Rhiannon (Will You Ever Win)", written a few years earlier by Nicks, was also a successful single for Fleetwood Mac. However, that song was not based on the Welsh myth but a novel called Triad, by Mary Leader. It was only after Rhiannon was written that Nicks became aware of the myth.

Angel (The Corrs song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Angel" was the second single taken from The Corrs' fourth studio album, Borrowed Heaven.

Angel (a-ha song) (Wikipedia.org)

"Angel" is a song by a-ha, the second single from the album Memorial Beach. The song is also known as "Angel in the Snow".

"Angel" was written as a wedding present for Lauren, Paul's wife. It is customary at Norwegian weddings that the husband-to-be profess his love for the bride in a unique way, and "Angel in the Snow" was Paul's contribution.

"Angel" appears on Memorial Beach but was recorded during a dark time in a-ha's history. The band rarely plays any songs from this era in concert. The live version of the music video is not available but was performed at the Valhall concert released on DVD. It is unclear why this was the only song left off of the video. There were actually two versions of this video. The first version was very similar, but included a quick scene featuring two fans, one of whom won the MTV contest to be in the video. It was only shown a few times, and version two replaced it in rotation.
