  1. I get "Unable to Connect" error in the Media Player on my Nokia phone.
    Launch RealPlayer (this is either in the Applications or in "My Own" menu), In Options, go to Settings, Connections, then network, and select your default access point. This access point should be the same as what you use to connect to the Internet.
    Note that your mobile operator needs to support video streaming. Check with your operator.

  2. Videos don't play in Wifi (Wireless LAN).
    Your Wireless LAN (WLAN) router needs to be configured to let video streaming through. One way is to disable the firewall on the WLAN router or put the mobile device in DMZ mode.

    Select the option below which matches the network you are using to play the videos.

    A new version of the vTap client has been released which fixes this issue. This new client can be downloaded by accessing vtap.com from your mobile phone.

    We are aware of this problem, and are working on a solution. In the mean time, if you would like to manually remove the second icon [vTap(1)] you can follow these steps:

    1. Start File Explorer, and going to the following directory: My Device\Windows\Start Meun\Programs.

    2. There you will see the vtap(1) icon. If you select it with your Stylus, and hold, you will get an option for Delete.

    3. Select Delete.

    Now you should no longer see the second icon in your Start/Programs.

    This is currently not something which can be controlled by the client application. We are always looking to optimize our playback quality, and will be making further optimizations in future releases. One thing that can be done is just when the clip starts to play, if you press "Pause" for some period, buffering will be happening in the background. This should help some with any playback pauses.

    Press the button and choose settings and Safari. Under Security, turn on Javascript.

  1. What is vTap?
    vTap helps you find media quickly on phones and other input/display constrained devices (we released a desktop version too but that is just to give you a flavor of the experience) . For example, imagine during a dinner conversation a word or topic comes up and you want to check the meaning of a word or concept. With vTap, you could quickly find the answer right there by typing just a few characters of your query. vTap starts displaying answers as you type, so you may not even have to type the whole query.

  2. How can I try vTap?
    You can try vTap on your desktop or on your mobile by visiting http://vtap.com. You can also try vTap on your phone by going through the following steps.
    • Open a browser on your computer and go vtap.com.
    • Send an SMS to your device by typing your phone number.
    • When the SMS arrives on your device, click the link in the SMS to install application.

  4. I have a Windows Pocket PC 2003 device. Do you plan to support it?
    We currently do not plan on releasing a version for Pocket PC 2003 edition. However, if you have a video capable phone you can play videos by going to m.vtap.com using your phone browser.

  5. I have a Windows Pocket PC 2002 device. Do you plan to support it?
    Sorry, we don't plan to support Pocket PC 2002 devices at this point in time. However, if you have a video capable phone you can play videos by going to m.vtap.com using your phone browser.

  6. When do you plan to support Java phones?
    We have released a version of vTap that can be accessed from your mobile browser by typing m.vtap.com

  7. I am a developer - how do I customize your application?
    You can customize our application for the Windows Mobile Platform at the source level by signing up for our developer program at Developer Program. You can email us at developer@veveo.net if you have any further questions.

  8. This FAQ does not answer my question. What should I do?
    Please email us your question at psupport@veveo.net and remember to include the device you are experiencing the problem and the version of the application you are using.   1. Does BlackBerry version support video search?
    Video playback is supported on BlackBerry OS version 4.3. Versions 4.2 and 4.1 curently support Wikipedia search only.
  2. How do I determine which OS my Blackberry device is running?
    From the Home screen of your device select "Options" and then select "About".
  3. I have sucessfully installed the vTap client, but I cannot search, and get an error message indicating "Cannot Connect to Server"
    We have discovered in order for third-party applications to connect to the Internet, an Access Point sometimes needs to be defined in the Blackberry's settings. The value is not always easy to get from the operator, we had to get it from web pages / forums for some networks. (We used `www' for Vodafone and `airtelgprs.com' for Airtel.)
    Please also note:

    1. If the rate plan does not include Internet access for arbitrary applications, then the setting won't help.
    2. This setting doesn't seem to be required for applications `blessed' by the operator. Some examples include various Google and Yahoo apps (gmail, gtalk, yahoo search, etc.). It isn't required for the browser either.

    You can change the Access Point or APN by clicking on the Options icon, then Advanced Options, then TCP. Depending on your network and the Access Point you are entering, you may need a Username and Password as well. If you need further information, you should be able to contact your Network Operator or you can check out this link:

    You must enable the Support HTML Tables option in the browser on your phone. To do this, start the browser, and go to Options/Browser Configuration/Support HTML Files.
Windows CE/Windows Mobile 6.0 and 5.0
  1. How do I start the application on my Windows Mobile?
    You can start vTap by selecting the "vTap" entry on the front screen(also called the "Today Screen") of your device.

    You can also start the application by selecting the vTap icon (a 'V') from the programs list. On a Windows Mobile Pocket PC, choose the "Programs" option in the Windows "Start" menu to get the programs list. On a Smartphone, launch the Windows "Start" menu to get the programs list.

    Tip: If you had launched the application recently, it may also be present in the recently launched application icons list.

    In vTap application, please go to Tools->Options. Please make sure number mode is turned off. When number mode is on, query characters are interpreted as though they are input from a keypad where multiple alphabets are on the same key (e.g. a,b,c are on the key marked 2).

  3. I have tried to enable the Direct Play option, but I get an error indicating that I need to download some files?
    Using the direct play option will allow the videos from YouTube, and Metacafe to play directly from their sites to your phone. This should improve the quality of the video when you watch videos from these sources. In order to get Direct Play to work, please do the following:
    1. From your PC, download the flv-plugin for Tcpmp (flvffmpeg.plg and flvsplitter.plg). You can download these files by downloading the file posted at http://downloads.sourceforge.net/flvstreamtcpmp/flvplugin0.4.2_it.zip File name: flvplugin0.4.2_it.zip.
    2. Connect your phone via USB to your PC and using Active Sync copy the 2 files (flvffmpeg.plg and flvsplitter.plg) to the Location where you have vTap installed '\Program Files\vTap' or 'Storage Card\Program Files\vTap' if you have vTap installed on your storage card.
    3. Restart the vTap application, and enable the Direct Play option by going to Tools/Media/Direct Play from within the vTap application.
